All though a niche service our small but nimble crew haven’t been overtaken as FCIS is still the preferred choice for so many new build clients. We would credit this to our commitment to preparation and the finish.
Not every plasterer is created equally so if a new build shows up areas that needs attention, such as those in the picture we will go the extra mile to ensure the plaster gets the attention it deserves. We genuinely want every square inch looking as good as reasonably possible.
After so many jobs its fair to say we have our process down but were still open to learning a new way if it makes for a better finish. Its amazing how a small change in the way you carry out an aspect of a job can yield a much better outcome.
Over the years we’ve seen the common and uncommon issues that can arise with new build painting. For example plaster mapping is a common issue that’s caused by high levels of Alkaline in the sand and cement. It occurs in 50% of new builds. When the paint is wet a client may be alarmed by what they’re looking at. We are on hand to treat it properly and, ensure our clients are fully informed on what it is, its limitations and any future courses of action that they might need to take .

A: Yes, the paint we use and the spray like finish rollers we supply you with can effectively deal with any touch ups.
A: A spray job leaves a smooth finish and has no brush or roller marks. Most clients appreciate this feature. In regards to adhesion, once the correct preparation procedures are followed there is no difference when comparing both methods.
A: A spray job’s lifespan is similar to a brush and roller finish. However, if good quality paint is used, the smooth spray painted finish can keep it looking fresher for longer.
A: To maximise the cost saving for the client, a spray job on a new build should be done before 2nd fix electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and tiling.
A: No. A spray job uses the exact same paint as a brush and roller finish.
A: Our clients satisfaction is of utmost importance. Payment is processed on the final day of the job when the work is completed.
A: This is possible and gives an excellent finish. Were happy to ensure our clients get the colour and finish they desire.
A: First Choice Interior Sprayers leave a finished job with all sanding and filling completed. There is no requirement for further coats after our job
A: Many of our clients will live on our 2 coat sprayed finish for many years. The uniform colour applied usually leads to client adding additional splashes of colours as the years go on.
A: We will sand what’s called “nibs and snots” (plaster droppings). We also sand minor irregularities. However, we are not there to make a bad plaster job perfect.
A: Like a brush and roller finish, standard practise for changing a colour would be 2 coats.
A: Our service is normally complete in 2-3 days.
A: The best areas to check are the corners of the window reveals where the steel angle bead was fixed. These areas stay wet for the longest. You should get a reading of 12 or below before spraying.
A: This varies but a general rule of thumb would be Summer 3-4 weeks Winter 4-6 weeks.
